Roche is the first paying customer for IUCLID Assist, the newly launched generative AI tool developed in collaboration with the Luzern-based startup Silver Brain AI to automate IUCLID6 submissions by chemical and pharmaceutical companies to the European Chemical Agency.

After operating for two years in stealth, Ankit Garg and Charles Guinand incorporated Silver Brain AI in 2023 to empower businesses with advanced AI solutions. It provides enterprise application platforms, apps and solutions for clients in pharma, chemical, insurance, banking and beyond.

At the core of Silver Brain’s solutions is its RAG Technology, which allows GenAI tasks to be conducted on a user’s data, such as its enterprise knowledge base. Any enterprise can connect its internal unstructured and structured knowledge base with any foundation models using the startup’s enterprise-grade-production ready data pipelines and engineering to harness value out of the internal knowledge base.

Currently, the startup is working on tools such as SB Nexus, an enterprise AI platform for enterprises to interact with their knowledge base; AI CoPilots for HSE; and Legal AI CoPilots, which will be live soon.

New GenAI solution and the first customer
Together with the Roche team, Silver Brain has developed IUCLID Assist, a Software-as-a-Service solution that leverages proprietary document processing technology and harnesses the capabilities of Generative AI Models to empower experts to automate the laborious data entry tasks with unparalleled efficiency and accuracy. Besides data entry, it allows users to interact with all the scientific studies like a ChatGPT but on scientific studies. Experts can effortlessly process multiple study PDFs, streamlining the submission process and ensuring accuracy at every step, and automate IUCLID6 submissions by chemical and pharmaceutical companies to ECHA (European Chemical Agency).

Building on their relationship, Roche has deployed the tool, thereby becoming the startup’s first customer. The pharma giant will, among others, use the tool to save lives by reducing redundant animal harm during safety research and development, particularly in toxicology studies. Discussions with potential customers in various industry sectors are also ongoing.

Moving forward, Silver Brain will continue to advance its tools, attract more customers and partners across its product range, and build its business development and sales team. The company is bootstrapped and continuing to develop its track record in various ways – it has already participated in three large tech accelerators, namely the AWS Startup Loft Accelerator, Microsoft for Startups and Google for Startups Cloud Program.
