Switzerland is renowned for its vibrant start-up ecosystem and innovative drive. Building High-Innovation Start-Ups, one of the programs of the SML Summer Academy, provides new start-up ideas and entrepreneurial expertise, as participants are sent on a two-week best-practice journey through Switzerland.

Highly skilled innovators and passionate entrepreneurs are now in higher demand than ever. Young start-ups and well-established companies alike need to be innovative and strategic in developing new business. An effective high-innovation start-up company cannot be created by trial and error. It must follow a well-defined process and include business planning, financials, and financing strategies.

Anyone who considers setting up a start-up or becoming an entrepreneur needs more than a broad base of general knowledge and basic business competencies to have an edge over their competitors. They have to understand the concept of entrepreneurial innovation, as well as the key elements of business creation and business development. This knowledge must go hand in hand with practical know-how, creativity, and the ability to network and think outside the box.

Building High-Innovation Start-Ups is a short but intensive course of study with both academic and practical content. It covers all aspects of business innovation and entrepreneurship, such as understanding business innovation, identifying business opportunities, developing business concepts, and realizing business ventures. The program also includes co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

The course’s faculty members are highly qualified “pracademics”: professionals and experienced senior lecturers, with an academic background and professional experience in the start-up sector.

Co-curricular activities include field trips to visit leading Swiss business incubators and start-ups. These will be carefully integrated into the academic program.
