Stealth Key

ETH Zurich-alumni founded UrbanAlps wins Norwegian defense contract with its «Stealth Key», and raises additional CHF 500’000 on top of its recent 2.5M Series A round.

The 3D metal printing start-up, creator of the «Stealth Key», has won its first industrial project for a new manufacturing plant in Europe from a German multinational. At the same time, it continues to serve a large US army contractor and, very recently, a spin-off of the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment. «In all cases, high security applications in which key copy protection is paramount», says UrbanAlps-founder and CEO Alejandro Ojeda.

In addition to the achievements regarding customers, UrbanAlps was able to generate additional money from investors. Following the CHF 2.5 M Series A round from mid-2018, UrbanAlps has raised a CHF 500'000 Series A-2 from existing investors to bring the round to a total of CHF 3.0M.

ETH-alumni founded UrbanAlps has developed a patent-protected purely mechanical key with invisible security features, while classic «security keys» might be photographed and duplicated by 3D-printing at low cost. The start-up is located in Zurich, Dubai and Prague.

In 2019, UrbanAlps has built a sales team and achieved first B2B sales off the ground in a conservative industry. The company continues to duplicate its revenue month by month, while expanding its product portfolio to tackle increasingly large and complex projects.

In 2018, UrbanAlps focused on growing the product team with former Assa Abloy senior engineers, the world leader in access solutions. The Swiss start-up achieved serial production with a range of more than 525 product variants. This novel 3D-production technology on demand with high product variance creates a mighty entry barrier for competitors.
