Swiss speakers and start-ups at Mobile World Congress

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is the worldwide most important congress in the fast growing mobile communication sector and generated 2017 a new visitor record with 108’000 peoples. Three Swiss speakers have been selected and 13 companies will exhibit at two Swiss Pavilions. 

In 2017 MWC generated a new visitor record with 108’000 peoples. Parallel to the congress an exhibition at 100’000m2 is organized and decision makers from the top management are visiting it. This year the Mobile World Congress will be held 26 February – 1 March 2018 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.

Last week GSMA, the organizer of the event, announced keynote speakers. Among them are three persons from Switzerland and from Swiss startups.

  • Brigitte Baumann, Founder and Chief Investment Officer, Go Beyond Early Stage Investing
  • Alastair MacLeod, CEO, Teralytics
  • Peter Ohnemus, CEO, dacadoo.

Other speakers include for example: Christopher Young, CEO, McAfee, Kazuhiro Yoshizawa, CEO, NTT Docomo, or John Hurley, CTO, Ryanair.

At the exhibition Swiss start-ups will be present at two pavilions. Again S-GE, Innosuisse and AlpICT  have joined forces to offer Swiss companies the opportunity to be present at MWC. For the 5th year there will be a Swiss Pavilion at the show. The premiere is a second satellite pavilion in hall 6.

Exhibiting companies include:

42matters offers a suite of products and services for App Market Data and Mobile Audience Data to provide customers with thorough analysis of the app market and user demographics.

Beekeeper offers an award-winning mobile communication platform for non-desk employees. 

Guuru: Enables companies to outsource live chat customer support to the most competent customers thereby saving up to 50% costs.

Katia’s solution defeats nuisance and criminals calls and is available for telecom operators, large businesses and developers.

Loriot’s products facilitate the gathering, forwarding and analysis of IOT sensor data.

TECFLOWER is a specialist for wireless power and data transmission and for associated electronics. 

Olympe – offers a web-based platform that enables teams to collaboratively develop distributed software in minutes with the help of visual thinking and artificial intelligence. 

Tracktics’ football tracker records performance data such as speed, distance covered, number of sprints and position during training or play.

Apart from these start-ups several Swiss technology companies will exhibit at the Swiss Pavilion such as GMS, New Voice International, Huber+Suhner
