From now on, the former “company builder” Centralway will focus exclusively on mobile banking. As a consequence, the company will apply for a European banking licence.

Following the successful start of the mobile banking app Numbrs in Germany, the internet company Centralway is to enter the banking industry. In recent months, Numbrs was downloaded more than 400,000 times from the App Store. Numbrs is one of the leading mobile banking apps in Germany. Since April 1, the app has offered users analysis and a forecast of their expenditure. It also enables bank transfers and the management of multiple bank accounts via a smartphone. Numbrs is already connected to more than 3,500 banks in Germany. The app is also going to be launched in the American market, for which a prototype has been developed.

Martin Saidler, founder and chief executive officer of Centralway, said: “The great success of Numbrs in Germany confirms that there is a huge demand from customers for simplified banking services without the need for traditional bank branches. People want to be informed in real time, they want convenience when making transactions and they want to have an overview of their future financial situation.”

Application for a European banking licence
Innovative banking solutions for private clients will be developed by Centralway. This offering is complementary to Numbrs. In addition, Centralway has already invested in a number of financial technology start-ups. With the planned banking licence for the European market, Centralway consciously puts itself under the financial regulatory authorities; thereby providing a clear statement regarding the security of the applications.
