RigiTech is transforming logistics and supply chain with its new drone delivery technology which enables delivering packages over a distance of 80 kilometers. The Lausanne based startup has obtained a CHF 100’000 FIT tech seed loan to launch the first operation in the French-speaking part of Switzerland.

Rigi Technologies is a pioneering drone technology company developing “Air Bridge”, a cargo delivery drone designed to transport packages of 2 to 3 kilos over a distance of 80 kilometres. Compared to road deliveries, 'Air Bridge' provides a faster, cheaper and more consistent logistics link between two different locations or cities.

The solution comes with a virtual control tower which enables monitoring and controlling of operations of the delivery drones as well as the integration of drone flights in the airspace traffic management. Customers can, therefore, integrate delivery routes directly into their supply chain.

Drone delivery for laboratories
RigiTech’s unique technology has great potential in several markets, such as health, e-commerce or the industry of replacement parts. For the moment, the young company focuses on health and specifically on blood diagnostics. RigiTech facilitates the direct air connection between laboratories, where the speed of delivery is essential for the rapid treatment and the health of the patients.

The FIT startup loan of CHF 100’000 will allow RigiTech to create and operate its first delivery route between two cities in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, which will serve as a showcase for other countries and potential European customers. “The support of the FIT is crucial for building trust and demonstrating Switzerland’s pioneering work in drones,” said Adam Klaptocz, co-founder and CEO of RigiTech.

Flight permit is underway
Over the next 18 months, RigiTech will obtain the flight permit from the Swiss authorities to start operating their first route. The company hopes to create a delivery network in Switzerland with different customers before expanding to the rest of Europe. The European Union is also in the process of setting up new regulations for drones, allowing flights similar to those taking place in Switzerland.

The startup employs eleven members and is supported by an advisory board comprising representatives of leading companies and associations in the field of drones, such as senseFly, IATA, and the Drone Industry Association of Switzerland.
