Time square New York

Swissnex Labs New York is bringing 10 selected participants for a two-week program to New York, the capital of the media industry. Participants will learn about the best practices and strategies in media and discover how to implement some of the latest media trends to boost their business. Startups are eligible to apply.

New York is the world’s media capital and home to some of the world’s largest media companies. The media hub is also at the forefront of technological change in the industry. The first Swissnex Labs New York program connects Swiss professionals to this ecosystem. The two-week program provides participants with the opportunity to discover some of the latest media trends right in the capital of the industry.

The program offers practical skills and knowledge to implement the latest best practices and strategies in media. The program combines expert presentations and workshops with hands-on learning to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to incorporate New York’s cutting edge media practices in their own work. Furthermore, participants will learn from practitioners from New York’s media ecosystem and prototype new projects to bring back to Switzerland.

For the first edition, which kicks off in Fall from 7th to 18th October, Swissnex Labs is accepting applications. Eligible to participate are journalists, corporate communications professionals, academics, individuals in a career transition and startup communications managers and any startup seeking to boost to their social media or improve their communications particularly through storytelling, podcasting, or the latest practices in social media.

Each of the cohorts will focus on 3 – 4 media trends. Modules vary based on participant goals and emerging trends but may include these topics: AR / VR, data and media, smart speakers and podcasts.

Why startups should apply
Oliver Haugen, Head of Swissnex New York says that: “The program is particularly interesting for startups that feel they are not yet reaching their potential audiences; startups that want to prototype a new communications project or strategy, media startups that are in the podcast space and looking for new inspiration. I have felt for a while that the media vertical within the Swiss startup ecosystem is still underserviced.”

Costs for the program range from CHF 3500 to CHF 7000 per person, depending on the type of organization and affiliations. Deadline for applications is 10 September.
